Good Friday Prayer of Love for the Crucified Lord

O Jesus,
it is not the heavenly reward You have promised
which impels me to love You;
neither is it the threat of hell
that keeps me from offending You.
It is You O Lord,
it is the sight of You
affixed to the Cross and suffering insults;
it is the sight of Your broken body,
as well as Your pains and Your death.
There is nothing You can give me
to make me love You.
For even if there were no heaven and no hell
I would still love you as I do!

Good Friday Prayer

O Jesus, Who by reason of Thy burning love for us
hast willed to be crucified
and to shed Thy Most Precious Blood
for the redemption and salvation of our souls,
look down upon us here gathered together
in remembrance of Thy most sorrowful Passion and Death,
fully trusting in Thy mercy;
cleanse us from sin by Thy grace,
sanctify our toil,
give unto us and unto all those who are dear to us our
daily bread,
sweeten our sufferings,
bless our families,
and to the nations so sorely afflicted,
grant Thy peace,
which is the only true peace,
so that by obeying Thy commandments
we may come at last to the glory of heaven.

Amen.

Ash Wednesday Prayer

This prayer is designed to be said within the family before a Crucifix from Ash Wednesday to Saturday at the beginning of Lent.

Mother or a child: From the words of St. John the Evangelist (14:1-6).

Let not your hearts be troubled.
You who believe in God, believe also in me.
In my Father's house there are many mansions.
Were it not so, I would have told you,
because I go to prepare a place for you.
And if I go and prepare a place for you,
I am coming again,
and I will take you to myself,
that where I am, there you also may be.
And where I go, you know, and the way you know.

Father:

We ought to glory in the Cross of our Lord Jesus
Christ

Family:

in whom is our salvation, life and resurrection.

Father:

Let us pray.

Grant to your faithful, Lord,
a spirit generous enough to begin these solemn
fasts
with proper fervor and to pursue them with
steadfast devotion.
This we ask of you through our Lord Jesus Christ,
your Son.

Family:

Amen.

Favor this dwelling, Lord, with your presence.
Far from it repulse all the wiles of Satan.
Your holy angels—let them live here,
to keep us in peace.
And may your blessing remain always upon us.
This we ask of you through our Lord Jesus Christ,
your Son.

Father:

Let us bless the Lord.

Family:

Thanks be to God.

Father:

May the almighty and merciful Lord,
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
bless and keep us.

Family:

Amen.

A Prayer for those who don't know Christ

Lord Jesus! You,
Who in the most bitter moments of Your passion
showed an ardent thirst for souls,
grant that we may share in this thirst.
Give us the light to grow
in the knowledge of Your word
and grant us strength so that,
by collaborating in preaching this word
at every moment of our lives,
we may bring to You,
through Your holy Church,
and the intercession of Your holy Mother,
innumerable souls who live far from the truth.
Grant this so that with You,
through You and in You,
they may be reconciled to the Eternal Father,
in union with whom,
together with the Holy Spirit,
You live and reign forever and ever.

Amen.

A Prayer for Might against Greed

Displaying the treasures of Your work,
Jesus, You invited me to follow You,
To sell my goods, to give to the poor,
And to completely submit Myself to You.
Desires for wealth leads to greed,
Satisfaction never being reached.
He who seeks no earthly possessions
Is free of all avarice aspirations.
Jesus, edify my weak human nature,
To resist unnecessary commodities,
Those classified as evident luxury.
May I subdue all greedy tendencies!

A Prayer for Biblical Insight

O Jesus, greatest Teacher of all times,
Thank you for Your gift of the Holy Bible.
You inspired the prophets and the apostles,
Guiding them to eternalize the Sacred Word.
Always maintain my faith in the Holy Word,
Believing it originated from the Holy Spirit,
Not authored by man as false teachers allege.
Continue to guide me through its Books,
Granting me the required insight and wisdom
To thoroughly digest Your many mysteries.
Thank you for these righteous teachings.
Your generosity is superabundant!

Advent Prayer

O shepherd of Israel, hearken,
O guide of the flock of Joseph!
Rouse your power, and come to save us.
O Lord of hosts, restore us,
if your face shine upon us, then we shall be safe.
O Lord of hosts, how long will you burn with anger
while your people pray?
You have fed them with the bread of tears
and given them tears to drink in ample measure.
You have left us to be fought over by our neighbors,
and our enemies mock us.
O Lord of hosts, restore us,
if your face shine upon us, then we shall be safe.

Advent Prayer

Father, in the wilderness of the Jordan you sent a messenger to prepare people's hearts for the coming of your Son. Help me to hear his words and repent of my sins, so that I may clearly see the way to walk, the truth to speak, and the life to live for Him, our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

God of power and mercy, open our hearts in welcome. Remove the things that hinder us from receiving Christ with joy, so that we may share his wisdom and become one with him when he comes in glory, for he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Advent Prayer

Father in heaven, the day draws near when the glory of your Son will make radiant the night of the waiting world. May the lure of greed not impede us from the joy which moves the hearts of those who seek him. May the darkness not blind us to the vision of wisdom which fills the minds of those who find him. We ask this in the name of Jesus the Lord. Amen.

Lord, fill our hearts with your love, and as you revealed to us by an angel the coming of your Son as man, so lead us through his suffering and death to the glory of his resurrection, for he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Advent Prayer

Father, all-powerful God, your eternal Word took flesh on our earth when the Virgin Mary placed her life at the service of your plan. Lift our minds in watchful hope to heart the voice which announces his glory and open our minds to receive the Spirit who prepares us for his coming. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Advent Prayer

Come, long-expected Jesus.
Excite in me a wonder at the wisdom and power of Your
Father and ours.
Receive my prayer as part of my service of the Lord
who enlists me in God's own work for justice.

Come, long-expected Jesus.
Excite in me a hunger for peace: peace in the world,
peace in my home, peace in myself.

Come, long-expected Jesus.
Excite in me a joy responsive to the Father's joy.
I seek His will so I can serve with gladness, singing and
love.

Come, long-expected Jesus.
Excite in me the joy and love and peace
it is right to bring to the manger of my Lord.
Raise in me, too,
sober reverence for the God who acted there,
hearty gratitude for the life begun there,
and spirited resolution to serve the Father and Son.

I pray in the name of Jesus Christ,
whose advent I hail.

Amen.

Loving God, you speak to us through all of life. Help me to trust you and to trust that what you desire for me lies in the deepest part of my heart. And, what you desire is that which allows me to grow and to be the person you created me to be - fully human and fully alive. Help me to follow my desire to live my life as best I can and to serve others with the special gifts you have given me. Amen.

Vocation Prayer

Consecration of the Church and the World to the Blessed Virgin Mary

O you, who more than any other human being
have been consecrated to the Holy Spirit,
help your Son's Church to persevere
in the same consecration,
so that she may pour out upon all men
the ineffable benefits of redemption
and of sanctification
for the liberation of the whole of creation [cf. Rom 8:21].
You, who were with the Church in the beginning of her mission,
intercede for her in order that,
going all over the world,
she may continually teach all the nations
and proclaim the Gospel to every creature.
May the Word of Divine Truth
and the Spirit of Love
find an opening in the hearts of men,
who, without this truth
and without this love
really cannot live the fullness of life.

You, who have known in the fullest way
the power of the Holy Spirit,
when it was granted to you
to conceive in your virginal womb
and to give birth to the Eternal Word,
obtain for the Church
that she may continue to give new birth
through water and the Holy Spirit
to the sons and daughters
of the whole human family,
without any distinction of language,
race, or culture,
giving them in this way
the "power to become children of God" [Jn 1:12].

You, who are so deeply
and maternally bound to the Church,
preceding the whole People of God
along the way of faith,
hope and charity,
embrace all men who are on the way,
pilgrims through temporal life
towards eternal destinies,
with that love which the Divine Redeemer himself,
your Son, poured into your heart from the Cross.
Be the Mother of all our earthly lives,
even when they become tortuous,
in order that we may all find ourselves,
in the end, in that large community
which your Son called the fold,
offering his life for it as the Good Shepherd.

You, who are the first handmaid
of the unity of the body of Christ,
help us, help all the faithful,
who feel so painfully
the drama of the divisions of Christianity,
to seek with constancy the way
to the perfect unity of the Body of Christ
by means of unconditional faithfulness
to the Spirit of Truth and Love,
which was given to them by your Son
at the cost of the cross and of death.

You, who have always wished to serve!
You who serve as mother of the whole family
of the children of God,
obtain for the Church that,
enriched by the Holy Spirit
with the fullness of hierarchical
and charismatic gifts,
she may continue with constancy
towards the future along the way
of that renewal which comes from
what the Holy Spirit says
and which found expression in the teaching of Vatican II,
assuming in this work of renewal everything
that is true and good,
without letting herself be deceived
either in one direction or in the other,
but discerning assiduously
among the signs of the times
what is useful for the coming of the Kingdom of God.

Mother of men and peoples,
you know all their sufferings
and their hopes.
You feel in a motherly way
all the struggles between good and evil,
between the light and the darkness
which shakes the world
accept our cry addresses
to the Holy Spirit
directly to your heart
and embrace with the love of the Mother
and the Handmaid of the Lord
the peoples who await this
embrace the most and likewise the peoples
whose consecration you, too,
are particularly awaiting.
Take under your motherly protection
the whole human family
which we consecrate to you, O Mother,
with affectionate rapture.
May the time of peace and freedom,
the time of truth,
justice and hope,
approach for everyone.

O you,
who through the mystery of your particular holiness,
free of all stain from the moment of your conception
feel in a particular deep way that
"the whole creation has been groaning in travail." [Rom.8:22],
while, "subjected to futility,"
it hopes that it will be
"set free from its bondage to decay" [Rom.8:20-21],
You contribute unceasingly
to the "revealing of the sons of God,"
for whom "the creation waits with eager longing." [Rom. 8:19],
to enter the freedom of their joy [cf. Rom.8:21].

O Mother of Jesus,
now glorified in heaven in body and in soul,
as the image and beginning of the Church,
which is to have its fulfillment
in the future age here on earth,
until the day of the Lord comes [cf. 2 Pet. 3: 10],
do not ceases to shine
before the pilgrim people of God
as a sign of sure hope and consolation (cf. Lumen Gentium 68).

Holy Spirit of God,
Who are worshipped and glorified
with the Father and the Son!
Accept these words of humble consecration
addressed to You in the heart of Mary of Nazareth,
Your bride and mother of the Redeemer,
who the Church too calls her mother,
because right from the Upper Room at Pentecost
she has learned from her own motherly vocation!
Accept these words of the pilgrim Church,
uttered amid toils and joys,
fears and hopes,
words which are the expression
of humble and confident trust,
words with the Church,
forever consecrated to You,
Spirit of the Father
and of the Son,
in the Upper Room at Pentecost,
does not cease to repeat together with you
to her divine Bridegroom.
Come!

"The Spirit and the Bride say to the Lord Jesus
'Come..." [cf. Rev. 22:17].
"Thus the Church is seen to be
a people brought into unity of the Father,
the Son, and the Holy Spirit" (Lumen Gentium, 4).
Thus we repeat today:
"Come", trusting in your motherly intercession,
O Clement, O Loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

in Salus Populi Romani, on December 8,1990.

Christ, The Way Of Conversion Communion, And Solidarity In America

We thank You, Lord Jesus,
because the Gospel of the Father's love,
with which You came to save the world,
has been proclaimed far and wide in America
as a gift of the Holy Spirit
that fills us with gladness.
We thank You for the gift of Your Life,
which You have given us by loving us to the end:
Your Life makes us children of God,
brothers and sisters to each other.
Increase, O Lord, our faith and our love for You,
present in all the tabernacles of the continent.
Grant us to be faithful witnesses
to your Resurrection
for the younger generation of Americans,
so that, in knowing You, they may follow You
and find in You their peace and joy.
Only then will they know that they
are brothers and sisters
of all God's children scattered
throughout the world.
You who, in becoming man,
chose to belong to a human family,
teach families the virtues which filled with light
the family home of Nazareth.
May families always be united,
as You and the Father are one,
and may they be living witnesses
to love, justice and solidarity;
make them schools of respect,
forgiveness and mutual help,
so that the world may believe;
help them to be the source of vocations
to the priesthood and the consecrated life,
and all the other forms
of firm Christian commitment.
Protect Your Church and the Successor of Peter,
to whom You, Good Shepherd, have entrusted
the task of feeding Your flock.
Grant that the Church in America
may flourish
and grow richer in the fruits of holiness.
Teach us to love Your Mother, Mary,
as you loved her.
Give us strength to proclaim
Your word with courage
in the work of the new evangelization,
so that the world may know new hope.
Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mother of America,
pray for us!

(Given at Mexico City on January 22, 1999, by Pope John-Paul II).

Prayer for Students

Under thy patronage, dear Mother, and calling on the mystery of thine Immaculate Conception, I desire to pursue my studies and my literary labors: I hereby solemnly declare that I am giving myself to these studies chiefly to the following end: that I may the better contribute to the glory of God and to the promotion of thy veneration among men. I pray thee, therefore, most loving Mother, who art the Seat of Wisdom, to bless my labors in thy loving-kindness. Moreover I promise with true affection and a willing spirit, as it is right that I should do, to ascribe all the good that shall come to me therefrom, wholly to thine intercession for me in God's holy presence. Amen.

An indulgence of 300 days once a day.

Prayer before Study or Instructions

Incomprehensible Creator, the true Fountain of light and only Author of all knowledge: deign, we beseech Thee, to enlighten our understanding, and to remove from us all darkness of sin and ignorance. Thou, who makest eloquent the tongues of those who lack utterance, direct our tongues, and pour on our lips the grace of thy blessing. Give us a diligent and obedient spirit, quickness of apprehension, capacity of retaining, and the powerful assistance of Thy holy grace; that what we hear or learn we may apply to Thy honor and the eternal salvation of our own souls. Amen.

A PRAYER FOR PEACE # 6

Almighty God, in whose hands lies the destiny of men and nations, Let not the hopes of men perish, nor the sacrifices of men be in vain. O holy and life-giving Spirit, enable us by thy grace to root out from our common life the bitterness of ancient wrongs and the thirst to avenge the betrayals of long ago. Save us from the tyranny of history and set us free in a new obedience to serve each other in the present hour. Accepting the redemption wrought for us, we believe that all our sins of yesterday are covered by thy mercy; Grant us therefore grace and courage to give and to receive the forgiveness which alone can heal today's wounds. Draw us, O Lord, towards loving kindness and guide us into the way of peace.

A PRAYER FOR PEACE # 5

Give peace, o Lord, in our days Because there is no one else Who will fight for us If not You, our God.

A PRAYER FOR PEACE # 4

Lead me from death to life, from lies to truth Lead me from despair to hope from fear to trust Lead me from hatred to love from war to peace Let peace fill our heart, our world, our universe, peace, peace, peace.

A PRAYER FOR PEACE # 3

Lead me from death to life, from lies to truth Lead me from despair to hope from fear to trust Lead me from hatred to love from war to peace Let peace fill our heart, our world, our universe, peace, peace, peace.

Almighty God, from whom all thoughts of truth and peace proceed, kindle in the hearts of all men the true love of peace, and guide with Your pure and peaceable wisdom those who make decisions for the nations of the earth; that in tranquility Your kingdom may go forward, till the earth be filled with the knowledge of Your love; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Act of Hope #4

For Your mercies' sake, O Lord my God,
tell me what You are to me.
Say to my soul: "I am your salvation."
So speak that I may hear, O Lord;
my heart is listening;
open it that it may hear You,
and say to my soul: "I am your salvation."
After hearing this word,
may I come in haste to take hold of you.
Hide not Your face from me.
Let me see Your face even if I die,
lest I die with longing to see it.
The house of my soul is too small to receive You;
let it be enlarged by You.
It is all in ruins;
do You repair it.
There are thing in it,
I confess and I know,
that must offend Your sight.
But who shall cleanse it?
Or to what others besides You shall I cry out?
From my secret sins cleanse me, O Lord,
and from those of others spare your servant.

Amen.

Act of Hope #3

O my God!
Who hast graciously promised every blessing,
even Heaven itself,
through Jesus Christ,
to those who keep Thy commandments;
relying on Thine infinite power,
goodness and mercy,
and confiding in Thy sacred promises,
to which Thou art always faithful,
I confidently hope to obtain pardon of all my sins;
grace to serve Thee faithfully in this life,
by doing the good works Thou hast commanded,
and which,
with Thine assistance,
I now purpose to perform,
and eternal happiness in the next,
through my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Amen.

Act of Hope #2

O my God,
trusting in your promises
and because you are faithful,
powerful and merciful,
I hope, through the merits of Jesus Christ,
for the pardon of my sins,
final perseverance
and the blessed glory of heaven

Act of Hope #1

O my God,
relying on your almighty power
and infinite mercy and promises,
I hope to obtain pardon of my sins,
the help of your grace,
and life everlasting
through the merits of Jesus Christ,
my Lord and Redeemer.

Act of Hope

O my God, relying on your infinite goodness and promises, I hope to obtain pardon of my sins, the help of your grace, and life everlasting, through the merits of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Redeemer.

Act of Thansgiving after Holy Communion #4

My good Jesus,
I thank Thee with all my heart for giving me Thyself,
the Source of all graces, in holy communion.
I thank Thee for all the blessings
that I have received from Thee,
especially through the Holy Eucharist,
in which Thou art ever present to console us
and to help us in our needs.

In thanksgiving of all Thy favours,
I offer Thee all that I am and have.
Dispose of me according to Thy pleasure.
May Thy will be done in me and through me now and forever.

Jesus, receive my poor offering.
What can I give Thee?
I give myself to Thee, that I may always serve Thee.
I give Thee my body, that it may be chaste and pure.
I give Thee my soul, that it may be free from sin.
I give Thee my heart, that it may always love Thee.
I give Thee every breath that I shall breathe, and
especially my last;
I give Thee myself in life and in death, that I may be
Thine forever and glorify Thee eternally.

Remember the words of Jesus:
"Ask and you shall receive," and pray for yourself.

O Jesus, wash away my sins with Thy precious blood.

O Jesus, the struggle against temptation is not yet
finished.
My Jesus, when temptation comes near me,
make me strong against it.
In the moment of temptation may I always say,
"Jesus, mercy!"
"Mary, help of Christians, help me!"

O Jesus, may I lead a good life;
may I die a happy death.
May I receive Thee in Holy Viaticum
before I die.
May I say when I am dying,
"Jesus, Mary and Joseph,
I give you my heart and soul."

Listen now for a moment to Jesus;
perhaps He has something to say to you.
There may be some promise you have made and broken,
which He wishes you to make again and keep.
Answer Jesus in your heart,
and tell Him all your troubles.
Then pray for others.

O Jesus, have mercy on Thy holy Church.
Bless our Holy Father,
and grant what he asks of Thee.

O Jesus, have pity on all sinners, heretics, and infidels.
Save them by Thy most precious blood.

O Jesus, bless my father, my mother, my brothers and
sisters;
my relatives, friends and benefactors;
and all for whom I have promised to pray;
bless them as Thy kind Heart know how to bless them.

O Jesus, have pity on the poor souls suffering in
purgatory,
and give them eternal rest.

Amen.

Act of Thansgiving after Holy Communion #3

What shall I render unto Thee,
O Lord Jesus for all that Thou hast done unto me,
especially on this day?
In Thy care for me Thou hast given me Thy Body for my
food,
and Thy Blood for my drink,
and both as a pledge of future glory.
Would that my lips might be opened,
and my mouth filled with Thy praise,
that I might sing of Thy glory
and of Thy greatness all the day long,
and tell of all Thy wondrous works.
O my soul, magnify the Lord,
from whom thou hast received blessings so many and so
great;
and rejoice, my spirit, in God thy Saviour:
for He hath looked down on my lowliness;
and the Mighty One hath done great things for me,
and hath filled me, when hungry, with good things.

Let my words please Thee, O Lord;
my joy shall be in Thee,
and I will strive to practise Thy commandments.
Hold Thou me by Thy right hand,
and guide me by Thy will,
that Thou mayest afterwards receive me into Thy glory,
for Thy mercy’s sake.

Amen.

Act of Thansgiving after Holy Communion #2

My Lord Jesus Christ,
most sweet and most kind,
who even now, of Thy great goodness,
hast entered into this poor and humble abode,
adorn it and enrich it with Thy treasures,
that it may be made worthy of Thine indwelling.
Take up Thy rest therein,
that my heart may find its rest in Thee alone.
Let it not suffice Thee, O Lord,
to have given me Thy sacred Body;
give me also the treasures of grace
which Thou bringest with Thee;
for it will profit me little to eat the Bread of life,
if I remain unfed by Thy grace.
Give me, O Lord,
a heart completely transformed into Thee by love;
give me a life that shall be all Thine,
a quiet death that shall be the beginning of eternal life.
That is what I look for,
pray and hope for from Thee,
my eternal God,
by virtue of this Blessed Sacrament.

Act of Thansgiving after Holy Communion #1

How delectable is the sweetness of Thy heavenly Bread!
How admirable is the tranquillity
and how perfect the peace of him who receives Thee,
after the contrite and sincere confession of his sins!
Be Thou blessed a thousand times, my Jesus!
When I was in sin, I was unhappy;
but now not only is my soul at peace,
but I seem to have a foretaste of the peace of paradise!
Ah, how true it is,
that our hearts were made for Thee,
my beloved Lord,
and that they rest only when they rest in Thee!
Therefore do I give Thee thanks
and firmly purpose evermore to avoid sin and its occasions
and to fix my abode in Thy divine Heart,
whence I look for help to love Thee even unto death.

Amen.

Act of Spiritual Communion #4

At Thy feet, O my Jesus,
I prostrate myself
and I offer Thee the repentance of my contrite heart,
which is humbled in its nothingness
and in Thy holy presence.
I adore Thee in the Sacrament of Thy love,
the ineffable Eucharist.
I desire to receive Thee into the poor dwelling
that my heart offers Thee.
While waiting for the happiness of sacramental Communion,
I wish to possess Thee in spirit.
Come to me, O my Jesus, since I, for my part,
am coming to Thee!
May Thy love embrace my whole being in life and in death.
I believe in Thee,
I hope in Thee,
I love Thee.

Amen.

Act of Spiritual Communion #3

O Jesus! Thou hast given us in the Holy Eucharist
Thy Body and Blood to be our spiritual nourishment,
through which we may have life everlasting.
Would that I were now prepared to approach the Holy Table
to be united with Thee in the Blessed Sacrament!
I desire, with all my heart,
to receive this living Bread
which came down from Heaven.

O Lord, I am not worthy that Thou shouldst enter under my
roof;
say but the word, and my soul shall be healed.

O Lord, I am not worthy that Thou shouldst enter under my
roof;
say but the word, and my soul shall be healed.

O Lord, I am not worthy that Thou shouldst enter under my
roof;
say but the word, and my soul shall be healed.

Let me taste, at least,
the sweetness of a spiritual Communion.
Come to me, Jesus, my Lord, my Master.
Come and refresh my soul.
Strengthen me, that in union with Thee
I may do perfectly the Heavenly Father's will.
Let me never be separated from Thee by sin.

Keep me in Thy love and Thy grace.
I will not be lured away from Thee
by the deceitful honours and pleasures of the world.
I love Thee above all things and with my whole heart.
"Thou art the God of my heart,
and the God that is my portion forever."

Increase my faith,
strengthen my hope,
kindle my love,
that I may die to self and live but for Thee.

Act of Spiritual Communion #2

My Dear Lord and Saviour!
Though I am but a sinful srvant,
I approach Thee with confidence,
for Thou hast said in Thy goodness and mercy:
"Come to me all you that laboUr and are heavy laden,
and I will refresh you."
Thou wilt not despise a contrite and humble heart.
I am truly sorry for having offended Thee by my sins,
because Thou art infinitely good.
I have wounded Thy Sacred Heart
by foolishly resisting Thy holy will
and transgressing Thy Commandments;
but I love Thee now with my whole heart
and above all things.
I adore Thee truly present on the Altar.
I have a great desire, dear Jesus,
to receive Thee in Holy Communion,
and since I cannot now approach the Holy Table
to be united to Thee in the Blessed Sacrament,
I beseech Thee most earnestly to come to me
at least spiritually
and to refresh my soul
with the sweetness of Thy grace.

Come, my Lord my God and my All!
Come to me,
and let me never again be separated from Thee by sin.
I wish to become like Thee.
Teach me Thy blessed ways;
help me with Thy grace to practice meekness,
humility, purity, charity,
and all the virtues of Thy Sacred Heart.

Oh Thou Lamb of God!
Who takest away the sins of the world,
take away from me whatever may hurt me
and displease Thee.
With St. Francis of Assisi I pray:
'May the fire of Thy love consume my soul,
so that I may die to self and the world
for love of Thee,
Who hast vouchsafed to die on the Cross
for the love of me!'

Jesus, I consecrate to Thee my heart
with all its affections,
my soul with all its powers,
and my body with all its senses.
In union with Thee I will labour and suffer
to do the Heavenly Father's will.
I will ever be mindful of the presence of my God
and strive to be perfect.
Bless me in life and in death
that I may praise Thee forever in Heaven.

Amen.

Act of Spiritual Communion #1

My Jesus, I believe that Thou art present
in the Blessed Sacrament. I love Thee above all things
and I desire Thee in my soul.
Since I cannot now receive Thee sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
As though thou wert already there,
I embrace Thee and unite myself wholly to Thee;
permit not that I should ever be separated from Thee.

Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that You are in the Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I long for You in my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though You have already come, I embrace You and unite myself entirely to You; never permit me to be separated from You.

Our Lord to Sr. Benigna Consolata: "Make as many Spiritual Communions as possible, to supply for the many Sacramental Communions which are not made. One every quarter of an hour is not enough. Make them shorter, but more numerous."

ACT OF FAITH # 5 (Before The Real Presence)

My Divine Lord, I firmly believe that I am going to receive in Holy Communion You Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity. I believe this because You have said it, and I am ready to maintain this truth at the peril of my life

ACT OF FAITH # 4

O my God! I firmly believe that Thou art one only God, the Creator and Sovereign Lord of heaven and earth, infinitely great and infinitely good: I firmly believe that in Thee, one only God, there are three Divine Persons, really distinct and equal in all things, the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost: I firmly believe that God the Son, the second Person of the Most Holy Trinity, became Man; that He was conceived by the Holy Ghost, and was born of the Virgin Mary; that He suffered and died on a cross to redeem and save us; that He arose the third day from the dead; that He ascended into Heaven; that He will come at the end of the world to judge mankind: that He will reward the good with eternal happiness, and condemn the wicked to the everlasting pains of hell. I believe these, and all other articles which the Holy Catholic Church proposes to our belief, because Thou, my God, the infallible Truth, hast revealed them; and Thou hast commanded us "to hear the Church", which is "the Pillar and Ground of Truth." In this Faith I am firmly resolved, by Thy holy grace, to live and die.
Amen.

ACT OF FAITH # 3

Lord Jesus, eternal and infallible Truth, since Thou hast said that Thou art really present in the holy Eucharist, I believe it firmly. Yes, this Host which I see, and which I am to receive, is not bread, but the living Body of Jesus Christ, God and Man: it is the God Whom the Angels adore in heaven; I believe it. I do not understand this Mystery, but I wish to believe it without seeking to penetrate it, that I may have the happiness of seeing and contemplating it one day in heaven. Strengthen it so lively, that I may honour Thee, love Thee, and receive Thee, as if I already beheld Thee.

ACT OF FAITH # 2

O my God, who are infallible Truth and can neither deceive nor be deceived, I firmly believe all that you have revealed and propose to my belief through your holy Church, because you have revealed it. I believe that you are one in nature and three in Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. I believe that you are the Creator of all things and that you reward the just for all eternity in heaven and punish the wicked for all eternity in hell. I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God made man, that he suffered and died for my sins and rose from the dead in glory, and that it is only in him through the Holy Spirit that eternal life is given to men. I believe in fine all that your holy Church believes. I thank you for having called me to the true faith, and I affirm that with the help of your grace I will live and die in the holy faith.

ACT OF FAITH # 1

O my God, I firmly believe that you are one God in three divine Persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I believe that your divine son became man, died for our sins, and that he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe these and all the truths which the holy Catholic Church teaches, because you who have revealed them, who can neither deceive nor be deceived.

I believe these and all the truths which the Holy Catholic Church teaches, because you revealed them, who can neither deceive nor be deceived.

Act of Hope #4a

For Your mercies' sake, O Lord my God,
tell me what You are to me.
Say to my soul: "I am your salvation."
So speak that I may hear, O Lord;
my heart is listening;
open it that it may hear You,
and say to my soul: "I am your salvation."
After hearing this word,
may I come in haste to take hold of you.
Hide not Your face from me.
Let me see Your face even if I die,
lest I die with longing to see it.
The house of my soul is too small to receive You;
let it be enlarged by You.
It is all in ruins;
do You repair it.
There are thing in it,
I confess and I know,
that must offend Your sight.
But who shall cleanse it?
Or to what others besides You shall I cry out?
From my secret sins cleanse me, O Lord,
and from those of others spare your servant.

Amen.

Act of Hope #3

O my God!
Who hast graciously promised every blessing,
even Heaven itself,
through Jesus Christ,
to those who keep Thy commandments;
relying on Thine infinite power,
goodness and mercy,
and confiding in Thy sacred promises,
to which Thou art always faithful,
I confidently hope to obtain pardon of all my sins;
grace to serve Thee faithfully in this life,
by doing the good works Thou hast commanded,
and which,
with Thine assistance,
I now purpose to perform,
and eternal happiness in the next,
through my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Amen.

Act of Hope #2

O my God,
relying on your almighty power
and infinite mercy and promises,
I hope to obtain pardon of my sins,
the help of your grace,
and life everlasting
through the merits of Jesus Christ,
my Lord and Redeemer.

Act of Hope #1

O my God,
trusting in your promises
and because you are faithful,
powerful and merciful,
I hope, through the merits of Jesus Christ,
for the pardon of my sins,
final perseverance
and the blessed glory of heaven

Act of Adoration #3

I adore Thee O God,
I count myself as nothing before Thy Divine Majesty.
Thou alone art Being, Life, Truth, Beauty and Goodness.
I glorify Thee,
I praise Thee,
I give Thee thanks and I love Thee,
all helpless and unworthy as I am,
in union with Thy dear Son, Jesus Christ,
our Saviour and our Brother,
in the merciful kindness of His Heart
and through His infinite merits.
I desire to serve Thee,
to please Thee,
to obey Thee and to love Thee always,
in union with Mary Immaculate,
Mother of God and our Mother,
loving also and serving my neighbour for the love of Thee.

Wherefore give me Thy Holy Spirit,
to enlighten me,
to correct me
and to guide me in the way of Thy commandments
and in all perfection,
the while I look for the happiness of heaven,
where we shall glorify Thee for ever and ever.

Amen.

Act of Adoration #2

I adore Thee,
O my God,
present in the holy Eucharist,
as my Creator,
my Preserver,
and my Redeemer.
I offer Thee all that I have,
all that I am,
all that depends on me;
I offer Thee my mind to think of Thee,
my heart to love Thee;
my will to serve Thee;
my body to labour and suffer for Thy love.
I am Thine,
I give myself;
I consecrate myself to Thee,
I abandon myself to Thee,
I wish to live and die for love of Thee.

Act of Adoration

Jesus, my God, I adore You,
here present in the Blessed Sacrament of the altar,
where You wait day and night to be our comfort
while we await Your unveiled presence in heaven.

Jesus, my God,
I adore You in all places
where the Blessed Sacrament is reserved
and where sins are committed
against this Sacrament of Love.

Jesus, my God,
I adore You for all time,
past, present and future,
for every soul that ever was,
is or shall be created.

Jesus, my God,
who for us has endured hunger and cold,
labour and fatigue,
I adore You.

Jesus, my God, who for my sake
has deigned to subject Yourself
to the humiliation of temptation,
to the perfidy and defection of friends,
to the scorn of Your enemies,
I adore You.

Jesus, my God, who for us has endured
the buffeting of Your passion,
the scourging, the crowning with thorns,
the heavy weight of the cross,
I adore You.

Jesus, my God, who,
for my salvation and that of all mankind,
was cruelly nailed to the cross
and hung there for three long hours in bitter agony, I adore You.

Jesus, My God,
who for love of us
did institute this Blessed Sacrament
and offer Yourself daily for the sins of men,
I adore You.

Jesus, my God,
who in Holy Communion became the food of my soul,
I adore You.

Jesus, for You I live.
Jesus, for You I die.
Jesus, I am Yours in life and death.

Amen.

Act of Contrition before Holy Communion #2

My God, I detest all the sins of my life.
I am truly sorry that I have sinned,
because Thou art infinitely good
and sin displeases Thee.
Have mercy on me and pardon my offences.
I am resolved to avoid the occasions of sin
and never again offend Thee.

Amen.

Act of Contrition before Holy Communion #1

I desire, O my Saviour,
humbly to offer Thee the sacrifice of a troubled spirit
and a contrite heart.
I grieve from my inmost heart
that I have ever offended Thee by my sins,
Thee my God and my chief good,
Thee who art so gracious to me,
and so oft refreshest me in Thy Blessed Sacrament.
I grieve especially for the sins of
[name(s) of the person(s)]
which Thou knowest,
Thou searcher of our hearts,
and which I, a miserable sinner,
do confess in the bitterness of my soul.
Would that I had never offended Thee!
Yet a contrite and humble heart, O God,
Thou wilt not despise;
Thou who for love of us didst give to us
Thine Only-Begotten Son,
to wash us from our sins in His own Blood.

Amen.

Act of Contrition #9

Merciful Father, I am guilty of sin.
I confess my sins before you and I am sorry for them.
Your promises are just;
therefore I trust that you will forgive me my sins
and cleanse me from every stain of sin.
Jesus Himself is the proposition for my sins
and those of the whole world.
I put my hope in his atonement.
May my sins be forgiven through His Name,
and in His blood may my soul be made clean.

Amen.

Act of Contrition #9

Act of Contrition #8

O Lord Jesus, lover of our souls,
who, for the great love with which You loved us,
willed not the death of a sinner,
but rahter that he should be converted and live,
I grieve from the bottom of my heart that I offended You,
my most loving Father and Redeemer,
to whom all sin is infinitely displeasing,
who so loved that You she Your blood for me,
and endured the bitter torments of a most cruel death.
O my God, my inifinite Goodness,
would that I never offended You.
Pardon me, O Lord Jesus,
as I most humbly implore Your mercy.
Have pity on a sinner for whom Your blood pleads
before the face of the Father.

O merciful and forgiving Lord,
for the love of You,
I forgive all who have ever offended me.
I firmly resolve to forsake and flee from all sins,
and to avoid the occasions of them,
to confess, in bitterness of spirit,
all those sins which I committed against Your divine
goodness,
and to Love You, O my God,
for Your own sake,
above all things and for ever.
Grant me grace so to do,
most gracious Lord Jesus.

Amen.

Act of Contrition #7

Forgive me my sins, O Lord,
forgive me my sins;
the sins of my youth,
the sins of my age,
the sins of my soul,
the sins of my body;
my idle sins,
my serious voluntary sins;
the sins I know,
the sins I do not know;
the sins I have concealed for so long,
and which are now hidden from my memory.

I am truly sorry for every sin, mortal and venial,
for all the sins of my childhood up to the present hour.

I know my sins have wounded Thy Tender Heart,
O My Savior, let me be freed from the bonds of evil
through
the most bitter Passion of My Redeemer. Amen.

O My Jesus, forget and forgive what I have been. Amen.

Act of Contrition #6

O my most loving Father!
in the bitterness of the dolorous Passion of Jesus Christ,
Thy Son, I now pour forth my complaint,
indignantly accusing myself that
I have served Thee so unfaithfully
during this day and have offended Thee,
my most amiable and loving Father,
by so many and so great negligences.
I grieve for them from my inmost heart,
and strike my breast in the spirit of compunction,
and say unto Thee, O God!
be merciful to me a sinner.
And for all the negligences whereby
I have extinguished Thy good
and gentle Spirit within me,
I offer Thee the sufferings
and the tears of Thy beloved Son.
I beseech Thee,
in union with His most availing prayers,
to grant me pardon of my sins,
and to supply all my defects.
Deign to hear this, my prayer,
through that love which held back
Thine arm from taking vengeance,
when Thine only and most beloved Son,
the object of Thine eternal and unspeakable complacency,
was numbered with transgressors.

Amen.

Act of Contrition #5

O my God,
I am heartily sorry for
having offended Thee,
and I detest all my sins,
because I dread the loss of heaven,
and the pains of hell;
but most of all because
they offend Thee, my God,
Who are all good and
deserving of all my love.
I firmly resolve,
with the help of Thy grace,
to confess my sins,
to do penance,
and to amend my life.

Amen.

Act of Contrition #4

O my God,
I am sorry for my sins because I have offended you.
I know I should love you above all things.
Help me to do penance,
to do better,
and to avoid anything that might lead me to sin.

Amen.

Act of Contrition #3

My God,
I am sorry for my sins with all my heart.
In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good,
I have sinned against you
whom I should love above all things.
I firmly intend, with your help,
to do penance, to sin no more,
and to avoid whatever leads me to sin.
Our Saviour Jesus Christ suffered and died for us.
In His Name, my God, have mercy.

Amen.

Act of Contrition #2

My God,
I am sorry for my sins with all my heart.
In choosing to do wrong
and failing to do good,
I have sinned against you
whom I should love above all things.
I firmly intend, with your help,
to do penance, to sin no more,
and to avoid whatever leads me to sin.

Our Saviour Jesus Christ
suffered and died for us.
In his name, my God, have mercy.

Amen.

Act of Contrition #10

Oh my God,
I am heartily sorry for having offended thee.
I detest all my sins because of your just punishments,
but most of all because they offend thee, my God,
Who art all good and deserving of all my love.
I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace,
to sin no more, and to avoid the near occasion of sin.

Amen.

Act of Contrition

Act of Contrition

O, my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended you. I detest all my sins because of your just punishment, but most of all because they offend you, my God, who are all-good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Your grace, to sin no more and to avoid the near occasion of sin.

Act of Consecration to the Most Precious Blood

Blood of Jesus, inebriate me!
O Jesus, my Beloved SavioUr,
ever present in the Tabernacle,
to be the strength,
the joy and the food of souls,
I come to consecrate myself to Thy Precious Blood,
and to pledge Thee my sincere love and fidelity.
Pierced with sorrow at the remembrance of Thy sufferings,
the contemplation of the Cross,
and the thought of the outrages
and contempt lavished by ungrateful souls
upon Thy dear Blood,
I long, O my Jesus,
to bring joy to Thy Heart,
and to make Thee forget my sins,
and those of the whole world,
by consecrating my body and soul to Thy service.
I desire, my Jesus, to live henceforth,
only by Thy Blood and for Thy Blood.
I now choose It as my greatest treasure
and the dearest object of my love.

O merciful Redeemer,
deign to regard me as a perpetual adorer
of Thy Most Precious Blood,
and be pleased to accept my prayers,
my deeds and my sacrifices,
as so many acts of reparation and love.

Heavenly Wine,
giver of purity and strength,
pour down upon my soul.
Make of my heart a living chalice
from which grace shall constantly flow
on those that love Thee,
and especially on poor sinners that offend Thee.
Teach me to honour Thee
and to make Thee honoured by others.
Give me power to draw to Thee cold and hardened hearts,
that they may feel how infinitely
Thy consolations surpass those of the world.

O Blood of my Crucified Saviour,
detach me from the world,
and the spirit of the world.
Make me love suffering and sacrifice,
after the example of St. Catherine of Sienna,
who loved Thee so much
[and whom I choose again today as my special patroness].

O Precious Blood,
be my strength amid the trials and struggles of exile.
Grant that at the hour of death
I may be able to bless Thee
for having been the comfort
and the sanctification of my soul,
before becoming, in Heaven,
the everlasting object of my love and praise.

Saints of God,
who owe thy happiness to the Blood of Jesus;
Angelic spirits,
who sing Its glory and power,
august Virgin,
who to It owest the privileges
of thine Immaculate Conception
and Divine Maternity,
help me to pay to the Precious Blood of my Redeemer
a perpetual homage of adoration,
reparation and thanksgiving.

Amen.

Act of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

O Mary, Virgin most powerful and Mother of Mercy, Queen of Heaven and Refuge of Sinners, we consecrate ourselves to thy Immaculate Heart. We consecrate to thee our very being and our whole life: all that we have, all that we love, all that we are. To thee we give our bodies, our hearts, and our souls; to thee we give our homes, our families and our country. We desire that all that is in us and around us may belong to thee and may share in the benefits of thy motherly blessing. And, that this act of consecration may be truly fruitful and lasting, we renew this day at thy feet the promises of our Baptism and our First Holy Communion. We pledge ourselves to profess courageously and at all times the truths of our holy Faith, and to live as befits Catholics, who are submissive to all directions of the Pope and the bishops in communion with him. We pledge ourselves to keep the Commandments of God and His Church, in particular to keep holy the Lord's Day. We pledge ourselves to make the consoling practices of the Christian religion, and above all, Holy Communion, an important part of our lives, in so far as we shall be able to do. Finally, we promise thee, O glorious Mother of God and loving Mother of men, to devote ourselves wholeheartedly to the spreading of devotion to thy Immaculate Heart, in order to hasten and assure, through the queenly rule of thy Immaculate Heart, the coming of the kingdom of the Sacred Heart of thy adorable Son, in our own hearts and in those of all men, in our country, and in all the world, as in Heaven, so on earth. Amen.

Act of Consecration to the Holy Spirit

Dear Holy Spirit,
You are my friend.
I give You myself.
I ask You to dwell deeply inside of me
and make me holy.
I want to know the fire of God's love.
I want to love God with all my heart.

Amen.

Act of Consecration to the Holy Ghost

On my knees before the great multitude of heavenly witnesses, I offer myself soul and body to Thee, Eternal Spirit of God. I adore the brightness of Thy purity, the unerring keenness of Thy justice, and the might of Thy love. Thou art the Strength and Light of my soul. In Thee I live and move and am. I desire never to grieve Thee by unfaithfulness to grace, and I pray with all my heart to be kept from the smallest sin against Thee. Mercifully guard my every thought and grant that I may always watch for Thy light and listen to Thy voice and follow Thy gracious inspirations. I cling to Thee and give myself to Thee and ask Thee by Thy compassion to watch over me in my weakness. Holding the pierced Feet of Jesus and looking at His Five Wounds and trusting in His Precious Blood and adoring His opened Side and stricken Heart, I implore Thee Adorable Spirit, helper of my infirmity, so to keep me in Thy grace that I may never sin against Thee. Give me grace O Holy Ghost, Spirit of the Father and the Son, to say to Thee always and everywhere, Speak Lord, for Thy servant heareth. Amen.

Act of Consecration to the Holy Family

O Jesus,
our most loving Redeemer,
who having come to enlighten the world
with Thy teaching and example,
didst will to pass the greater part of Thy life
in humility and subjection to Mary and Joseph
in the poor home of Nazareth,
thus sanctifying the Family
that was to be an example for all Christian families,
graciously receive our family as it dedicates
and consecrates itself to Thee this day.
Do Thou protect us,
guard us and establish aongst us Thy holy fear,
true peace and concord in Christian love:
in order that by living according to the divine pattern
of Thy family we may be able,
all of us without exception,
to attain to eternal happiness.

Mary,
dear Mother of Jesus and Mother of us,
by the kindly intercession
make this our humble offering acceptable in the sight of
Jesus,
and obtain for us His graces and blessings.

O Saint Joseph,
most holy Guardian of Jesus and Mary,
help us by thy prayers in all our spiritual and temporal
needs;
that so we may be enabled to praise our divine Savior
Jesus,
together with Mary and thee,
for all eternity.

(Recite the Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory 3 times.)

Amen.

(An indulgence of 500 days. A plenary indulgence on the
usual conditions,
if this prayer is repeated with devotion every day for a
month.)

Act of Consecration to the Blessed Virgin Mary

I.

I venerate thee with all my heart,
O Virgin most holy,
above all Angels and Saints in paradise,
as the daughter of the Eternal Father,
and to thee I consecrate my soul with all its powers.

Hail Mary...

II.

I venerate thee with all my heart,
O Virgin most holy,
above all Angels and Saints in paradise,
as the Mother of the only begotten Son,
and to thee I consecrate my body with all its senses.

Hail Mary...

III.

I venerate thee with all my heart,
O Virgin most holy,
above all Angels and Saints in paradise,
as the beloved Spouse of the Spirit of God,
and to thee I consecrate my heart and all its affections,
imploring thee to obtain for me from the Most Holy Trinity
all the means of salvation.

Hail Mary...

Act of Consecration to the Blessed Virgin (For infants at time of Baptism) - Fr. Noel le Mire, S.M. and adapted by W. Cole, S.M.

O blessed Virgin Mary our Mother,
when the Son of God decided
to take upon Himself our human life
in order that we might share in His Divine Life,
He did not wish to come to us
without your free cooperation.
He deliberately willed to have need of you.

Look down today from heaven upon little (name of infant).
He (or she) has received from his parents the life of man,
and now by the Holy Sacrament of Baptism,
he has been given a life which is infinitely superior,
the very life of God.
We know that just as God is his Father and our Father,
you are, in regard to his spiritual life,
his Mother and our Mother.

We confide this child to you.
Show yourself his (or her) Mother.
Watch over his (or her) education;
nourish him with the life of grace;
make him progress in his Christian life
just as his human parents aid him to progress
in physical as well as spiritual life.

Protect the precious life
which has just been received.
Be for him a real Mother
to guard him in your arms
when the devil seeks to destroy his spiritual life
in your Son Jesus Christ.
May he love you as Jesus Christ loved you,
for our love for you is nothing else but
a participation in the love of your Son for you.

In the name of this child (name of infant),
we wish to make today
his (or her) first prayer to his heavenly Mother.

Hail Mary,
full of grace,
the Lord is with Thee,
blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners
now and at the hour of our death.
